Japan Internet School Uses VR to Host Virtual Opening Ceremony

On April 8, according to foreign media reports, an online high school in Japan organized an opening ceremony on virtual reality equipment on Wednesday. A total of 73 freshmen attended the virtual opening ceremony by wearing Gear VR virtual reality equipment.

It is reported that the N High School of Kadokawa Dwawngo Corp, a Japanese media group, hosted this virtual school opening ceremony in Tokyo. 73 of the 1,482 freshmen attended the opening ceremony.

When freshmen and teachers walked into the venue, they were amazed to find that there was a Gear VR device on each seat. The virtual reality device was connected to the main campus via a network, and the relevant real-time scenes of the school principal's speech were played.

For Japanese students, the opening ceremony is an important milestone in their student career, which means the beginning of their full-time system education.

As an online school established in April of this year, N High School has set up only one campus in Okinawa City. The school teaches through online real-time video and conducts online question and answer and online testing after each course. According to the relevant requirements of the Japanese Ministry of Education, in addition to completing online learning tasks, online school students need to participate in five regular school activities during the learning process. It is not yet clear whether the participation in activities synchronized with Okinawa's main campus through VR devices will be effective.

The online school aims to cultivate students' skilled professional skills. Through the actual application of Gear VR, students are introduced to virtual reality technology and the contents of school education. It is hoped that schools can also hold such virtual graduation ceremonies and invite parents of the students to participate.
